I just read Chapters 3-5 of Esping-Andersen’s “The Three World’s of Welfare Capitalism” and this was my reaction after he gave a long explanation as to why quantitative methods will not answer any of the important questions, and why they will always oversimplify the complex historical motions that create/change the welfare state. He then proceeds to do a quantitative analysis and conclude that we really can’t know much more until we have better methods of statistical analyses or a magic stat machine that will do it for us.

 

I know this is supposed to be a joke blog, but sometimes its just good to vent.
